Heritage Reflections: Halogen To LED Retrofit

"We decided to move forward with an LED retrofit at Heritage Reflections for three reasons:

  1. Customer Comfort. We had (167) 90w halogen bulbs before replacing them with 17w LEDs. As you can imagine 90w bulbs get hot, you could feel the heat radiate Heritage Reflections, Fine Amish and Shaker Furniture - Meridian, IdahoHeritage Reflections, Fine Amish and Shaker Furniture - Meridian, Idahooff each one from a few feet away. During the hot summer months our air conditioner could barely keep up, no matter what temperature we set it to it still felt too warm inside. Providing our customers with a pleasant shopping experience is a priority for us and the lower wattage LEDs help make that possible.
  2. Energy Savings & Idaho Power Rebate. Changing out our halogen lighting means we’re saving 38,138 kilowatt hours each year which translates to a significant savings on our monthly utility bill. Idaho Power covered 60% of the total project cost and estimated our ROI at 63% and payback at 1.6 years.  It’s an environmentally and fiscally responsible change that just made sense.
  3. Maintenance Cost Avoidance. We have a few rooms with 16-17’ high ceilings and changing light bulbs that high up is time consuming, dangerous and frankly a little obnoxious. Installing LEDs means we won’t have to change any bulbs for well over a decade (given our burn hours). This is a convenience and additional savings we couldn’t pass up.

Additionally, the old halogens had a spotlight effect whereas the LEDs provide a more even flood of light over our products. The color rendering is also warm and inviting without being too yellow or orange. Our merchandise looks great under the LEDs and overall we’re very pleased with our new lighting.

We highly recommend working with Alloway Commercial Lighting for LED lighting. They’ll do all the Idaho Power paperwork required to qualify for a lighting rebate and you’ll receive great customer service and great products."

The Record Exchange, Boise, ID

The Record Exchange, Boise, IdahoThe Record Exchange, a local icon since 1977, recently entrusted Alloway Commercial Lighting with retrofitting and updating the lighting in the entire facility.  If you don't already know, The Record Exchange, located on the corner of 11th and Idaho St in beautiful downtown Boise, is an eclectic music store filled with music from diverse artists, not only on CD but vinyl as well!

Michael and Jill, the husband and wife owners behind the cultural hot spot, feel it is critical that the lighting in their store properly highlight their extensive selection of CDs, vinyl, cassettes, novelty items, clothing, and a variety of other items. After updating its inefficient and outdated T12 lamps to energy-efficient T8 lamps and new electronic ballasts, The Record Exchange should now see a 42% savings on the cost of the energy used to power its lights.  Along with the energy and cost savings, perhaps the best part of the retrofit project was that Idaho Power paid for 67% of the entire project expense!
